Bendigo Bank YFNC 2014 Presentation Night
Last Friday night the Bendigo Bank Yarrawonga Football Netball Club 2014 Presentation Night was held at ClubMulwala and it was a night of celebration as all the worthy winners were presented with their awards.
Long time supporter and exceptional volunteer Malcolm Browning kicked off the proceedings with a very entertaining Toast to the Club. Master of Ceremonies Tony Scalzo kept everyone on track with his own engaging and amusing style and whilst there were a number of standing ovations none more deserving than a toast to long time President Glenn Brear. Daine Runnalls, Grandson of Charles Thomas Runnalls, had the crowd laughing with his very clever and hilarious introduction to our C Thomas Runnalls 2014 Best and Fairest winner Craig Ednie (also the grandson of the awards namesake). This is Craig's fourther Best and Fairest win with the Pigeons. Another highlight was the loud applause for our 2014 A Grade netball premiership team. It was a great night overall.

2014 Bendigo Bank Presentation Night
Grand Final 2014
Yarrawonga Pigeons will be playing Albury Tigers this Sunday 21 September, aiming for a hat trick! What a day it will be with the A and B Grade girls also playing for Premiership glory. Here is a break up of the day:
Games will be held at the Lavington Sports Ground.
B Grade play North Albury starting 12.15pm
A Grade play Wodonga starting at 2.00pm
Senior game starts at 2.30pm.
Later at the Grove Oval from 7.00pm the Club will be hosting the Grand Final celebrations. $10 for adults and $20 for families will get you in and a BBQ tea. Drinks will be at bar prices and there is strictly no BYO. Entertainment will be by DJ Ando and it is expected to be a great night. Hope to see a crowd full of blue and white on Sunday. Go Yarra!!
Will it be a double celebration ... 150 senior games and a Grand Final victory for Bridget Cassar?
We certainly hope so!
Bridget Cassar started out her netball playing career at the age of ten and with her long arms and legs was affectionately known by her team mates as ‘Olive Oil’. Bridget has been an inspirational member of Yarrawonga FNC and her strength on the court is a standout. Not only has she been a key player for the Club but has been a valuable member in a number of O&M Interleague teams. Only last Monday night she was awarded Most Valuable Player as part of the Interleague squad for 2014.
Bridget is daughter of Robert and Kaylene Tait who have been instrumental to netball at the YFNC, and sister to Janna whom she had the privilege to play many games with.
Over the years Bridget’s playing record has been outstanding;
1999 C Grade premiership player,
2004 and 2009 B Grade premiership player,
2001, 2009-2012 premiership player and coach in 2010 and 2011, and
2013 A Grade Best and Fairest player and runner up O&M Toni Wilson medallist.
Sunday’s Grand Final game will be Bridget’s 150 A Grade game for the YFNC only part of many other games amassed over the years. To win the Grand Final will be the icing on the cake for this magnificent milestone; one that every supporter will be wishing for Bridget and her team mates on Sunday.
Kylie Leslie 150 Senior Game Milestone
What a sensational effort
When starting out at netball when only 15 years of age, playing 150 senior games for one Club was never on the mind of Kylie Leslie, let alone all the other games played leading up to this milestone. Since running out on the court back in 2001 as part of the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club’s C grade side, Kylie has been a standout in over 230 games for the Pigeons.
Kylie is part of the well-known local Tyrell family and over the years she has had the opportunity to play with her sisters Stephanie and Angela who are also talented netballers. A strong Goal Defender and key team player, Kylie puts her athleticism to the fore of every game and is forever tenacious on the court.
Her impressive history with the Pigeons includes B Grade premiership player 2001 and 2003, A Grade premiership player 2009-2012, C Grade Best and Fairest 2001 and A Grade Best and Fairest 2007 and 2011.
Kylie is now looking to add to the history book. Kylie lines up this Saturday with the A Grade team for the deciding preliminary final against Corowa Rutherglen. With this win under their belt the girls will have a chance of another premiership flag on Sunday 21 September.
